Jesus was addressing the Jews in his Word when he said ‘if you abide in my Word you will know the truth and the truth shall set you free’ (John 8:31-32).
The truth referenced in the text is the Word of God (1 Corinthians 2:11 NLT). It can also be referred to as the Book of the Law (Joshua 1:8).
For by the Truth (Word of God) everything in heaven and on earth was created (Genesis 1:1). The Word of God is both the written and spoken law because everything that was created in heaven, on earth and underneath the earth responds to the Word of God (Colossians 1:16).
Whatsoever that cannot be found in the Word of God must be recognised as a LIE (John 8:32).
It is important to know that the Truth is the Word of God and anything outside the Truth is a lie, which comes from Satan (John 8:44). The scripture described Satan as an anointed Cherub, who fell due to his pride, as he said in his heart “I will exalt my throne above the stars of God” (Isaiah 14:13-14).
As a result, Satan became the father of lies when he decided to rebel against God and cause war with those who keep the commandment of God (Revelation 12:17).
Knowing the Truth in God’s Word involves our understanding of what is written in the scripture (Luke 24:45). Therefore, it is essential to invest time in studying and meditating on the Word of God in order to comprehend what God has said concerning us, so we can experience his divine will and purpose (Joshua 1:8).
Spiritual warefare begins the moment you are born again (Revelation 12:17; Galatians 5:17). Many Christians are decieved by the lies of Satan that appears true, but is contrary to the Truth of God’s Word.
It is only when we know and understand this truth that we can experience freedom and liberty from the lies of Satan (John 8:32). Examples of lies from Satan are: ill-health, unfruitfulness, demonic attacks, poverty and so on.
The weapon of Satan against us is when we yield to the flesh (sin nature) rather than the Spirit of God (Romans 8:5).
Satan also uses demonic spirits to afflict the soul and body of believers, through strategised lies expressed in the imagination and thought of an individual (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)
In order to be liberated from yielding to the flesh (sin), demonic attacks, bondages, sickness and diseases, a believer must know what the truth of God’s Word is (John 8:32).
Knowing and understanding this Truth is an indication that the Holy Spirit has enlightened your soul and the eyes of your understanding, with the knowledge of God’s Word (Ephesians 1:17-19; John 6:63).
Having knowledge of the Truth backed by the power of the Holy Spirit, gives us the power and authority to address the lies of Satan victoriously (John 6:63)
ONLY THE TRUTH YOU KNOW SHALL SET YOU FREE! (John 8:32).
