It is essential to understand that the moment we are born again, our spirit man is regenerated by the Holy Spirit (Ezekiel 36:26)Our mind (soul) and our human body (flesh) still remains the same. That is why the scripture admonishes us to present our body as a living sacrifice most Holy and acceptable to God (Romans 12:1). When we confess Jesus as our Lord, the Holy spirit lives in our body (1 Corinthians 3:16), and therefore, we should be living our lives in submission to the Holy Spirit, under His direction and guidance. Due to the sin of Adam, our soul and body are in the fallen state, which is why the Word of God intructs us to not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our mind (Romans 12:2). The more we meditate on the Word of God, our spirit man is spiritually charged and empowers us to deny or die to self, in order to walk according to the Holy Spirit (Matthew 16:24). We fall back into our old life (sin) when we do not die to self because our soul and body are in control over our spirit man. This is a state where we see our identity as our human flesh rather than our identity in Christ (Galatians 2:20). We must remember that sin is a law that is inherited in our human body (Romans 6:12, Romans 8:2).When we walk in sin, we are obeying the law of sin (Romans 8:2), because the law of sin is when we yield and are driven by the desires of our flesh, just the way Eve was driven by her desire to be wise like God (Genesis 3:6). Brother and sisters, walk by the spirit and you will not fulfil the desires of your flesh (Gal 6:19).
