RIGHTEOUSNESS THROUGH FAITH
Failure to understand the righteousness of God through Christ, will result in believers seeking to establish their our own righteousness (Romans 10:3).
Self-righteousness is when a man or a believer is seeking righteousness based on how He can please God through his works (ability).
We must acknowledge that our own righteousness is like a filty rag in the eyes of God (Isaiah 64:6).
Self-righteousness is the works of the law &/or flesh (Phillipans 3:9). It is essential to know that the law was given by God as a shadow of things to come in Jesus Christ (Hebrew 10:1).
Being ignorant of God’s righteousness and seeking our own righteousness is not accounted as submission to the righteousness of God (Romans 10:3). For Christ is the end of the law, for righteousness to everyone who believes (Romans 10:4).
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21). Believers receive the righteousness of God through Christ as a free gift through their faith in Jesus Christ, because the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all unrighteousness (Ephisians 2:8, 1 John 1:7).
Therefore, brothers and sisters, the scripture said we should walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh/works (Galatians 5:16). For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2).
We must acknowledge that it is through submitting to the leading of the Holy Spirit that we can subdue the works of the flesh & law.
