The power of Love
Loving one another has benefits for us believers in both the earthly and eternal life.
To unselfishly love one another can result in us experiencing inner peace and joy. When we love, our heart (mind) has no room for grudges, gossip, hatred and anything that is NOT of love!
To unselfishly love one another we are yielding and investing in the things of the spirit rather to our fleshy desires.
Apostle Paul highlighted the practices of sinful nature in the book of Galatians 5:19-22.
Here are some scriptural references of the importance of LOVE as believers.
Peter in the book of 1 Peter 4:8 AMP said “Above all, have fervent and unfailing love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins [it overlooks unkindness and unselfishly seeks the best for others].”
What does it mean when love covers a multitude of sin? When we unselfishly love one another we do not involve in; hatred, jealousy, strife, murder, adultery, stealing, false witness, and envy of our neighbour.
Also, Jesus said in the book of John 13:34-35 AMP “I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too are to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love and unselfish concern for one another.”
Brothers and sisters how do we yield to this ‘Love’? Firstly, when we are redeemed by the blood of Jesus, we can simply ask the Holy Spirit for the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Paul outlined the fruits of the Holy Spirit in the book of Galatians 5: 22-23 AMP.
We can also practice love day in day out by training our mind set. Just as Jesus describes loving one’s neighbours in the parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:30-36 AMP.
Stay blessed and encouraged
