God created man in His image and in his image He created them male and female (Genesis 1:26-27). From this scripture, we can see how God created the spirit of a man. In Genesis Chapter 1, the spirit of a man only existed without a body and soul. This confirms that man is a spirit because God said ‘let us make man in our image’ (Genesis 1:26.
In Genesis Chapter 2, it describes how God formed the body of a man (Adam) from the dust of ground and breathed into his nostril and man (Adam) became a living being/soul (Genesis 2:7).
At this point, Adam was the only living being in existence. The spirit, soul and body of Adam was in perfect fellowship with God as he communicated with God without any interference in the garden of Eden, when he was placed in the garden of Eden (Genesis 2:15). An example of this perfect communion between God and Adam can be seen when God commanded Adam not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:17). Additionally, God created the animals and presented them to Adam to name them all (Genesis 2:19-20), which he did successfully.
The spirit, soul and body of Adam was in perfect union, without any interruption in his communion with God (Genesis 2:15-20).
In the next post, exploration of how man lost this perfect communion with God and the consequences of this, will be explored.
