Walk by the Spirit and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).
To walk by the Spirit is submitting to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. To not walk by the Spirit is submitting to the flesh. Scripture confirms that those who are in the flesh cannot please God (Rom 8:8).
This scripture said that we cannot please God from our human understanding (Romans 8:8). We can only worship and please God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).
For us to walk by the spirit, it is essential to understand that the Word of God and the Spirit of God are inseparable (John 6:63).
How do we walk by the spirit?
Scripture states that those who walk according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh and those that walk according to the Spirit set their mind on the things of the Spirit (Romans 8:5).
It is the revelation of God’s Word in our heart which brings understanding to our mind, that equips us to walk by the Spirit (Ephesians 1:17). Revelation of God’s Word comes in various ways, such as speaking in tongues, as the scripture confirms that out of our belly shall flow rivers of living water (John 7:38). Additionally, it can also come by the meditation of God’s Word (Joshua 1:8). However, consecration, prayer, fasting & worship plays a vital role in receiving revelation of God’s Word.
We can measure how we have walked according to the Spirit by how much the fruits of the Holy spirit is reflected in our behaviour and conduct.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23).
