LIFE IN JESUS

Jesus Christ was sacrificed for the redemption of humanity (Ephesians 1:7). He serves as our perfect example; God uses His experiences before, during, and after the cross as a symbolic blueprint for the life of every believer.

Before we proceed, we must recognise that we are composed of spirit, soul, and body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). Let us examine the scriptural account of Jesus’ journey and its symbolic significance for us.

Shared Suffering (Co-stripes)

Isaiah 53:5
Through the stripes and lashes Jesus endured, we have been healed from sickness and disease.

Shared Crucifixion (Co-crucifixion)

Galatians 2:20; Romans 8:2; John 3:16; Ephesians 1:6; Romans 6:6
The blood of Jesus was a sacrifice to reconcile humanity with God. His physical body also represents the human body being crucified to sin and death. We must remain mindful of this spiritual truth.

Shared Death (Co-death)

Romans 8:16; Romans 6:7–10
Christ died for our sins, meaning the power of sin has been broken. We are no longer slaves to sin, but servants of righteousness.

Shared Burial (Co-burial)

Romans 6:4
We were buried with Christ, rendering us dead to sin. Consequently, sin no longer holds power over us.

Shared Resurrection (Co-resurrection)

Romans 6:4; Colossians 1:13
When Christ was resurrected, we were also raised into a new life. Our human spirit has now been united with the Holy Spirit.

Shared Ascension and Enthronement

Ephesians 1:20; Colossians 3:3
Just as Christ ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, we too are seated with Him in that position of authority.

It is mandatory to realise the vital work of the Holy Spirit in other to achieve all the points above. He is the one who helps us experience Jesus and brings Him glory. As noted in John 16:14 (NKJV): “He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.”
