In previous blogs, we have talked about the Holy Spirit glorifying Jesus, the Holy Spirit as the guarantee of our inheritance in Christ, and the Holy Spirit revealing our position in Christ — in His crucifixion, death, burial, and ascension — and our position seated in Him (John 14:12). This blog will focus on the Holy Spirit’s function: to equip believers in the work of the ministry. We must realise that the Christian walk is a journey of the Holy Spirit — not the ministry of self. We can see that in the book of Acts. I call the book of Acts “The Ministry of the Holy Spirit through the Apostles”. Perhaps you are a pastor, evangelist, teacher, or apostle — or you are just a disciple, or even an ordinary believer who shares the gospel. Your ability to function in this calling is a work of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit will be the One to reveal Jesus to your heart, and He is the One who will equip you to preach. The Holy Spirit is the One who will glorify Jesus in you, so that you may do all that Jesus did and set as an example for us to follow. He is the One who glorifies Jesus in you; the Holy Spirit is the One who empowers you to start a ministry, to cast out demons, to perform miracles, to teach, to make disciples, to evangelise, to heal the sick, and to raise the dead (Matt 4:19, 8:32; John 2:11, 11:43; Matt 4:23)
