In the last blog, I mentioned we would be distinguishing between the human spirit and the human flesh during prayer, so that we may fellowship with God more effectively.
We must realise that our identity is in Christ—meaning our identity is rooted in the Word of God (John 8:32, John 1:1, Genesis 1:26).
The human flesh was also created by God to enable human beings to live on the earth; for to exist in this earthly realm, an earthly body is required (Genesis 2:7). The body interacts with the physical world—what we see, feel, touch, and hear. Satan exploits this connection too, since he operates within the realm of this world; this is exactly why Scripture instructs us to walk by the Spirit and not by the flesh (Galatians 5:16–17, 2 Corinthians 4:4).
You know you are praying in the Spirit when your soul (your imagination, thoughts, mind, emotions, and will) is aligned with Scripture, rather than focused on things that gratify the world or the flesh (2 Corinthians 10:4–5). When your spirit and soul agree with what the Word says during prayer, true fellowship with the Holy Spirit begins when you speak in tongies and The Holy Spirit. begins to opens the eyes of your understanding through the revelation of God’s Word (Ephesians 1:17-18).
